NHBRC TEST

The Nhbrc test is an open computer book test that consists of 25 multiple choice questions divided into various sections as shown below.

In order to pass the test, you need at least 13 marks out of 25. The time duration of the test is 1 hour & 30 minutes.

Usually, an invigilator will assist you within the first few minutes to set up your username, password as well as the details of your company on the NHBRC’s computer.

On the day of the test, please make sure that you take along with you, your R 745.61 invoice together with its proof of payment as well as your ID copy otherwise, you shall not be allowed to write the test.

Please note, the Nhbrc test is NOT based on the National Home Builders Manual that you receive upon payment of the R 745.61 invoice but rather, it’s based on the SANS 10400,  2001 &  10137 manuals which you may click on to view.

SECTIONS OF THE NHBRC TEST

  • Major Concrete Works (2 Marks)
  • Minor concrete works ( 2 Marks)
  • Foundation (1 Mark)
  • Walling (5 Marks)
  • Masonry Walling (2 Marks)
  • Roofing Timber (2 Marks)
  • Timber Flooring (2 Marks)
  • General Question (5 Marks)

Right here, on our website, you can find the 125 questions that the NHBRC examines on a rotational basis. Please note that if you cannot view any of the PDF’s on your mobile phone, resort to a desktop or laptop computer enabled with a PDF viewer.

The free download test is redacted, however, the paid version is non redacted and all the questions are fully visible.  The paid version, together with the answer sheet as well as the study guide are available at a cost of R 600. You will need a password from us to access these study materials which are extremely important in the passing of your NHBRC exam.

See our service options 1,2 &3 below for more info.

OPTION 1 –

PURCHASE THE PASSWORD TO THE PAID TEST PDF, ANSWER SHEET & STUDY GUIDE FOR ONLY R 600.

For those of you wishing to write the test yourself, we charge a flat fee of R 600 to give you access to the password that will open the non redacted test, answer sheet as well as the study guide. Remember, the test is an open computer book test. You can take the summarized study notes with you to the exam, however, we do not suggest that you take the test questions into the examination room as this might not be permitted by the NHBRC.

The study notes as well as any other materials are allowed.

We suggest that you study our notes and answer the questions to the test before checking the answers. Then mark your answers and keep going back until you are 100% correct. Once you get to this level and you know where the various answers to the various topics are, you will be able to pass your NHBRC exam. Please try to avoid cramming the answers to the questions as this never works for the purposes of passing the exam.

Our study guide is less than 25 pages and should be fairly easy to master if you are keen on passing your NHBRC exam.

You can access all 3 materials by paying R 600 into our FNB account No: 62686499924, Branch code: 250655. Please use your cellphone number as the deposit reference as the password shall be “smsed” back directly to the cellphone used as your deposit reference number.

You may also call us on 072 547 5231 (24 Hours) should you not receive the password within  at least 15 minutes. If you are not interested in writing the NHBRC test, please see more of our NHBRC registration alternative options 2 & 3.

OPTION 2 –

HIRE  ONE OF OUR TECHNICAL MANAGERS TO WRITE THE TEST ON BEHALF OF YOUR COMPANY (R 2800)

The NHBRC gives applicants the option to write the test themselves or appoint a technical manager if the technical manager is not part of the managing members of the company.

See step 6 on the NHBRC’s website.

The technical manager can be appointed by the company’s owner/s or director/s to write the test on behalf of the company, same way, let’s say if they hired an architect to draw up the house plans on behalf of the construction company. Our technical managers are fully trained civil engineers in the fields of building and structural survey as well as in the meeting of the NHBRC regulations. Apart from writing the test, they can also be used to assist you with the process of house enrollments as well as the NHBRC inspections should a need arise. If you have already registered and you are simply in need of a technical manager to represent your company and write the test on behalf of your company, you can forward us a copy of the paid up NHBRC invoice of R 745.61 together with its proof of payment as well as your ID Copy.

We shall send you an appointment letter for you to sign in order to dispatch a technical manager who can immediately go and write the test on behalf of your company. The technical manager is also available for further duties such as enrollments and inspections should you further require these services.

We charge a once off flat fee of R 2800 for an NHBRC regulations trained technical manager. If you have not started the NHBRC registration process at all and do not want to go through the cumbersome process, you may opt for our full facilitation service.
